The Best 100th Day of School Ever! 🎉

Growing up, I loved the special days we got to celebrate in school. When I became a teacher, I made it my mission to create those same magical moments for my students. I wanted them to feel safe, challenged, and loved—but I also wanted them to leave my classroom with one-of-a-kind memories that they’d treasure forever.

One of my favorite days (and my students’ favorite too!) is the 100th Day of School! For 16 years, I’ve made sure to go all out, filling the day with exciting 100-themed activities. Since our school year is 180 days, the 100th day is a big milestone—the perfect halfway (ish) celebration!

100th Day Must-Do Activities 🎉

Here are the traditions that have made this day unforgettable in my classroom:

✔️ Write 100 words ✍️
✔️ Do 100 exercises (10 sets of 10 different exercises) 💪
✔️ Build with 100 items (blocks, unifix cubes, toothpicks, counting bears, etc.)
✔️ Create a 100th-day hat 🎩
✔️ Make a 100-bead necklace 📿
✔️ Enjoy a 100-piece snack 🍎 (10 sets of 10 different snacks like pretzels, Goldfish, marshmallows, and more—adjusted for allergies, of course!)

Tips to Make Your 100th Day a Success!

1️⃣ Give Students a Choice: "This or That"

I love using a choice board to guide the day! Students start by picking between:

➡️ Creating a 100th Day Hat 🎩
➡️ Making a 100th Day Necklace 📿

Once they finish, they move on to the other activity. After completing both, they can help classmates or clean up materials.

2️⃣ Organizing the 100-Bead Necklace

  • Use a 100s chart to help students sort their beads by groups of ten.

  • Place a star on 50 so they know where the halfway mark is.

  • Use elastic string—it’s so much easier for little hands!

  • Have students sit in a circle on the carpet to prevent beads from rolling away.

  • Tie the first side before they start the second half (trust me, I’ve dried a few tears after necklaces got dropped!).

3️⃣ Creating the 100th Day Hat

  • We use Bingo stampers to make 10 dots on 10 strips of paper (rainbow colors to match my theme!).

  • Strips get glued to a headband, creating a firework-style hat that stands out!

  • If you don’t have stampers, students can draw 10 circles with crayons or markers.

4️⃣ Making the 100-Piece Snack

  • Give students a page with 10 ten-frames to sort their snack pieces into groups of ten.

  • Have a small group at the snack station while the rest of the class works on their writing activity.

  • Pack up snacks in baggies for an easy grab-and-go treat!

5️⃣ Keeping the Day Flowing

  • Use peer support—faster finishers can help classmates.

  • Break up activities to manage cleanup (and your sanity!).

  • Rotate students through different stations to keep them engaged and avoid classroom chaos.

The 100th Day of School is more than just a fun celebration—it’s a great way to reinforce counting, grouping, fine motor skills, and teamwork in a meaningful way. Plus, it’s a day they’ll remember forever! 💕 If you want an easy way to make these activities happen, check out my 100th Day Activities Pack.

Kinder Kid at Heart

I've been a teacher for 16 years! I am Nationally Board Certified in Early Childhood Education and have worked hard each day to meet the needs of each student in my classroom! I taught Kindergarten for 13 years and transitioned to Gifted 1st Grade (2nd Grade curriculum). I loved both grade levels & have made many resources to help my students (and me!) be successful! I also enjoy traveling, eating yummy meals (IG: my.food.source to follow along with the meals my BF makes!) and trying new things.
