Random Acts of Kindness Challenge: Day 3

Random Acts of Kindness Challenge: Day 3 – Rock N Roll Snowmen! 🎸⛄

Day 3 of the Random Acts of Kindness Challenge is always a classroom favorite! Today, your students will create Rock N Roll Snowmen to decorate the music room door and surprise the music teacher. This activity is a fun, creative way to show appreciation for all the hard work your music teacher has put into nurturing your little learners. Plus, it’s inspired by the catchy song Rock N Roll Snowman—a perfect tie-in for the day! 🎶

Step-by-Step Guide

1️⃣ Introduce the Challenge
Pose your Kindness Challenger with an example Rock N Roll Snowman to inspire your students. It’s a great way to spark their imaginations!

2️⃣ Make the Snowmen

  • Materials Needed:

    • ¼ sheet white printer paper for the snowman

    • Small black paper for the hat

    • Colorful paper for scarves and accessories

    • Small orange triangles for carrot noses

    • Crayons for additional details

  • Steps:

    1. Fold the white paper in half.

    2. On the folded edge, draw a large number 3 (leaving space in the middle).

    3. Cut out the 3 to create the snowman shape.

    4. Decorate the snowman: add a hat, scarf, buttons, carrot nose, and more.

    5. Use colorful paper or crayons for accessories.

    6. Decorate and cut out a small guitar, then glue it to the snowman to complete the Rock N Roll look.

Pro Tip: Have extra paper on hand for students who cut the wrong side or need a redo. It’s all part of the learning process!

Tips for Day 3

💡 Teacher Tape Saves the Day (Again!)
This magic tape is perfect for hanging the decorations securely on the music room door. Teach students how to attach it to their snowmen but remind them to wait to peel off the backing until you’re at the door. Bonus: Assign a few students as “tape helpers” to assist classmates.

🎸 Add a Musical Gift
Want to go the extra mile? Bring along small gifts like kazoos or mini tambourines for your music teacher as an extra thank-you.

The Big Reveal

Coordinate with the music teacher to ensure they’ll be around for the surprise. Have your students “sneak” to the music room, place their Rock N Roll Snowmen on the door, and then jump out to say “Surprise!” 🎉 The giggles and excitement of sneaking (not so quietly!) add a layer of joy to the experience.

Why This Challenge Matters

Showing kindness isn’t just about big gestures—it’s the little things that bring smiles to the people who care for and support us every day. This activity allows your students to:

  • Express gratitude creatively

  • Build teamwork as they work on their decorations

  • Experience the joy of giving

And let’s be honest—your music teacher will treasure these adorable, rockin’ snowmen for years to come!

Kinder Kid at Heart

I've been a teacher for 16 years! I am Nationally Board Certified in Early Childhood Education and have worked hard each day to meet the needs of each student in my classroom! I taught Kindergarten for 13 years and transitioned to Gifted 1st Grade (2nd Grade curriculum). I loved both grade levels & have made many resources to help my students (and me!) be successful! I also enjoy traveling, eating yummy meals (IG: my.food.source to follow along with the meals my BF makes!) and trying new things.
